When is ultrasonic cleaning better than spraying?
For everything that sits trapped in cavities, blind holes, threads and fine channels. A spray nozzle only reaches what it can see. Ultrasonics work everywhere the fluid reaches. For heavy oil and chips on open surfaces, a spray parts washer is faster and cheaper.
Does ultrasonic cleaning damage my parts?
Not if the settings are right. That is why we always match power, time and detergent to your part. The baths work at 27 or 40 kHz, frequencies suited to metal parts. On soft aluminium, thin coatings and fine mesh structures, running too long or too aggressively does cause damage. Send us the material and the shape of your part and we will set the machine correctly from the start.
Which model do I need?
Look first at your largest part and at the platform, then at the weight per load. The U100 takes 50 kg on a platform of 550 x 300 mm, the U2000 Pro goes up to 1100 kg on 1700 x 950 mm. If you load and operate the bath yourself, the standard version is the logical choice. If you clean in series every day, the Pro takes over more work: platform lift, PLC and automatic top-up are standard.
What is the difference between an industrial ultrasonic cleaner and an ultrasonic cleaning bath?
Nothing. Both terms refer to the same machine: a heated tank in which ultrasonics loosen the dirt. In industry you will also hear ultrasonic parts washer or ultrasonic cleaning system. What does matter is the size and the power; that is what the table above is for.
Can ultrasonic cleaning be combined with rinsing and drying?
Yes. In a multi-stage line the baths follow each other: pre-washing, ultrasonic cleaning, rinsing, phosphating or passivation, lubricating and drying. Transport is done by hand, with a gantry or with a robot. That is custom built and always starts with a review of your process.
How much space do I need to allow?
The inner tank ranges from 600 x 450 x 450 mm on the U100 to 1800 x 1100 x 1050 mm on the U2000 Pro. Allow additional space for the generator cabinet and for opening the lid. You receive the exact external dimensions with your quotation.
Which cleaner or additive do I use in this machine?
We supply the cleaner with the machine, because it helps determine the result. Phibo has its own range of water-based cleaners and additives, from corrosion-inhibiting cleaners to defoamers. We choose the product and the dosage that suit your parts together with you, based on your contamination and the material of your parts.
What happens after I send a request?
We call you. Before we work out a quotation, we go through your parts, your contamination and your volumes together, so that the proposal is right straight away. So you get a real conversation with someone who knows the machines, and not an automatic e-mail with a brochure.
Is the machine CE compliant, and does it have to be inspected every year?
You receive the machine with CE marking, with a declaration of conformity and a manual. An annual inspection keeps the installation safe and reliable. You can arrange that with us in a maintenance service contract, together with the periodic maintenance.
What happens after delivery?
Phibo remains your point of contact. After delivery you can cover what follows in a maintenance service contract, so that your installation is inspected periodically and keeps running as it did on day one. We match what goes into your contract to your machine and to how intensively you use it. We put that on paper together with the quotation.
How does it work for service and spare parts?
You arrange maintenance, repairs and overhauls directly with Phibo, and the spare parts as well. For parts that are not in stock, you receive a lead time straight away.
What warranty do I get, and what is the delivery time?
You get one year of warranty, on every machine. The delivery time depends on the installation you choose and is therefore always stated in your quotation.
Is the training of our operators included in the price?
No, it is charged separately. If you add it, we train your operators at commissioning, so that everyone who works with the machine knows how to operate and maintain it. The price is listed separately in your quotation.
